This week I didn’t travel quite as far as usual because I spotted this series in an area that I’ve not cached in a great deal before.  I wasn’t out with Pip this week, she is getting older now and we don’t think she should be made to walk as far, I was a little sad leaving her behind for this walk. I set off early, thinking that I’d get around the series in about 5 hours and finish soon after lunch, how wrong could I be?  It was a little foggy in places, driving to Gloucester in the morning but by the time I reached Sneedham Green on the outskirts of Gloucester it had lifted leaving a fresh clear day.  As I started heading up the first hill the sun was rising and shining down on the houses in the village.

This is a great series but it was hard going  pretty much the whole way around the circuit. It’s a very hilly loop and the ground was very soft, muddy and slippery.  It was pretty tough going up and down the hills.   Don’t do this walk unless you are wearing good walking boots and are reasonably fit.  The novice hill walker will find the series challenging, as so did I. As well as tricky terrain to cope with, navigation will add to the challenges but thankfully the cache owners have provided some very helpful directions to each cache, which came in very handy at times.

Brave cachers will be rewarded with some great countryside and amazing views all the way around the series.  Do allow plenty of time for this walk, as it took me several hours more than I would normally have expected so I was pleased that I started early.  I also included a detour to the top of the Robin Wood Hill. If you have the time and of course any remaining strength, I’d recommend a trip to the summit, after all you will have seen it all day as you’ve been walking around it.  The views at the top are amazing and there are several caches as well at the top if you have the energy for them once you make it to the top.

If you’re up for a bit of challenge then this could be your bag!
