On Saturday I combined two series by the Woking Wonders, The Mimbridge Walk and the HG Ring.  There is a large car park  (Sandy Track) near the start of the trail which is also very popular with local walkers, joggers and horse riders.  In the morning, I did the  Mimbridge Walk which is a circular series via Deep Pool, Mimbridge, Cox Hill, Sow Moor Emmetts Mill and Horsell Common. In the afternoon I did the HG Ring another circular series via Horsell Birch, Littlewick, Mink Farm, Graylands Farm and then back through Deep Pool and Horsell Common.

The HG ring runs across Horsell Common and Goldsworth Park hence it’s name, but it could also refer to HG Wells, who at one time lived in Woking and used Horsell Common as the location for the Martian landing in “The War of the Worlds”.

Two very nice walks that took us through parts of Horsell Common a privately owned piece of common land with public access. Sign posting through here is non existent so I was glad I had my OS map and Garmin Birds eye on my GPS to guide me through.  The common is a lovely piece of landscape and the main feature of both series.

Flooded Path at Coxhill, Pip could have made it but it was too deep for my boots so we had to make a bit of a detour.

A nice walk along the river on Sow Moor.

The water table was very high and several areas were under water.

We enjoyed the walk on the common but it tested my navigational skills a little.
